Getting Started

How do I install ReachDraft?

ReachDraft is a Chrome extension. Install it from the Chrome Web Store:

  • Visit the Chrome Web Store and search for "ReachDraft"
  • Click "Add to Chrome"
  • Confirm the installation
  • The ReachDraft icon will appear in your browser toolbar

After installation, navigate to any LinkedIn profile and click the ReachDraft icon to get started.

What happens when I first open ReachDraft?

The first time you open ReachDraft, you'll see a quick onboarding that helps personalize your messages:

  • Your Name: So messages can be signed with your first name
  • Your Role & Company: Provides context for the AI
  • Your Purpose: Choose from Recruiting, Sales, Networking, Job Seeking, or Other

This setup takes about 30 seconds and makes your generated messages much more relevant. You can skip this step if you prefer, or update your information anytime in Settings.

Do I need to create an account?

You can sign in with LinkedIn or create an account with email. Creating an account allows you to:

  • Sync your settings across devices
  • Track your message generation usage
  • Access premium features (when available)

During the beta period, all features are free and unlimited for signed-in users.

What browsers are supported?

ReachDraft is currently available as a Chrome extension. This means it works on:

  • Google Chrome
  • Chromium-based browsers (Brave, Edge, Arc, Opera, Vivaldi)

Firefox and Safari support may be added in the future based on demand.

Using ReachDraft

How do I generate a message?

Generating a personalized message takes just a few clicks:

  • Step 1: Navigate to a LinkedIn profile page
  • Step 2: Click the ReachDraft icon in your browser toolbar
  • Step 3: The extension automatically scans the profile
  • Step 4: Choose your message type (Connection, Message, or Email)
  • Step 5: Select your preferred tone (Casual, Professional, or Friendly)
  • Step 6: Optionally add context (e.g., "Saw your post about AI")
  • Step 7: Click "Generate Message"

Your personalized message appears instantly. You can edit it, regenerate, or insert it directly into LinkedIn.

What's the difference between Connection, Message, and Email?

  • Connection: Short, concise notes for LinkedIn connection requests (under 300 characters). Best for first contact.
  • Message: Longer direct messages for existing connections or InMail. More room for context and personalization.
  • Email: Professional email format with subject line. Useful if you have the person's email or want to reach out outside LinkedIn.

What are the tone options?

  • Casual: Relaxed, conversational tone. Like reaching out to a potential friend. Great for networking.
  • Professional: Formal, business-appropriate tone. Best for senior executives, formal industries, or when you want to make a strong first impression.
  • Friendly: Warm and approachable, but still respectful. A good middle ground for most situations.

What does "3 Variants" do?

The "3 Variants" button generates three different message approaches at once:

  • Casual: Friendly, conversational opener that feels natural
  • Value-Led: Leads with specific value or insight you can offer
  • Curious: Opens with a thoughtful question to spark dialogue

This helps you pick the message style that feels most natural for each situation.

How do I add my own context to messages?

The optional "What's this about?" field lets you add specific context that makes your message more relevant:

  • "Saw your recent post about startup funding"
  • "We met at the Tech Conference last week"
  • "Interested in the AI project you mentioned"
  • "Looking for advice on breaking into product management"

The AI incorporates this context naturally into your message, making it feel more genuine and personal.

Can I edit the generated message?

Yes! The generated message appears in an editable text area. You can:

  • Edit any part of the message directly
  • Add or remove sentences
  • Adjust the wording to match your voice
  • Regenerate if you want a completely different approach

We encourage you to personalize the output - AI-generated messages work best as a starting point.

How do I insert a message into LinkedIn?

ReachDraft can insert messages directly into LinkedIn's message field:

  • Step 1: Generate a message while on a LinkedIn profile
  • Step 2: Open a message conversation with that person on LinkedIn
  • Step 3: Click "Insert to LinkedIn" in the ReachDraft popup
  • Step 4: The message is automatically inserted into the LinkedIn message field

Note: Make sure you have the LinkedIn messaging window open before clicking "Insert to LinkedIn". The message field must be visible on the page.

Profile Scanning

What information does ReachDraft scan from profiles?

ReachDraft scans publicly visible information on LinkedIn profiles:

  • Name
  • Current job title and company
  • Headline/tagline
  • Location
  • About section (if visible)
  • Recent experience
  • Recent posts and activity (when available)

This information is used only to personalize your message and is never stored on our servers.

Does ReachDraft use someone's recent posts in messages?

Yes! When recent posts or activity are available on a profile, ReachDraft can reference them in your message. This dramatically increases response rates because it shows you actually read their content.

For example, if someone recently posted about a conference they attended or an article they wrote, your generated message might naturally reference that topic as a conversation starter.

Tip: Scroll through the person's profile to load their recent activity before scanning with ReachDraft for the best results.

Why isn't the profile scanning working?

If profile scanning isn't detecting information, try these steps:

  • Refresh the LinkedIn page and wait for it to fully load
  • Scroll down to load all profile sections
  • Click "Scan Profile" button to manually trigger a scan
  • Make sure you're on an actual profile page (URL contains /in/)
  • The profile may have limited visibility - you can manually enter the name

You can always manually enter or edit the profile information in the extension.

Can I use ReachDraft on LinkedIn search results?

Yes! ReachDraft has a Batch Mode for search results:

  • Step 1: Go to LinkedIn People Search
  • Step 2: Open ReachDraft - it will automatically detect multiple profiles
  • Step 3: Use "Select All" or check individual profiles you want to message
  • Step 4: Add a shared context that applies to all messages (optional)
  • Step 5: Choose your tone and message format
  • Step 6: Click "Generate X Messages" to create personalized messages for all selected profiles

After generating:

  • Click "Export CSV" to download all messages with profile data
  • Click "Copy All" to copy all messages to clipboard
  • Use individual "Copy" buttons for specific messages

Smart contact tracking: Profiles you've already contacted show a badge and are unchecked by default, helping you avoid duplicate outreach.

Privacy & Security

Is my data safe?

Yes. Privacy is a core principle of ReachDraft:

  • Profile data stays in your browser - we don't store LinkedIn profile information
  • Messages are generated in real-time and not saved on our servers
  • Your settings sync securely through your account (optional)
  • We never access your LinkedIn credentials

Read our full Privacy Policy for details.

Does ReachDraft access my LinkedIn password?

No. ReachDraft never asks for or has access to your LinkedIn password. When you sign in with LinkedIn, you're using LinkedIn's official OAuth system - we only receive basic profile info (name, email) that you explicitly authorize.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time:

  • Open the ReachDraft extension
  • Click the Settings icon (gear)
  • Scroll down to "Account" section
  • Click "Delete Account"
  • Type "DELETE" to confirm

This permanently removes your account and all data from our servers. This action cannot be undone.

  • Sign out and sign back in - Your session may have expired

If the problem persists, contact our support team.

I keep getting signed out

If you're being signed out unexpectedly:

  • Check Chrome sync settings - Make sure Chrome sync is enabled for extensions
