Adding Context to Messages
The "What's this about?" field lets you add custom context that makes your messages more relevant and personal.
Where to Add Context
Look for the optional text field labeled "What's this about?" or "Add context" in the ReachDraft popup. This appears before you generate a message.
What to Include
Good context gives the AI a reason for your outreach:
Reference Something Specific
- "Saw your recent post about AI in healthcare"
- "Read your article on startup funding"
- "Noticed you spoke at the Tech Summit"
Mention a Shared Connection
- "We both know Sarah at Acme Corp"
- "We met briefly at the networking event last week"
- "We're both members of the SaaS Founders group"
State Your Purpose
- "Looking to discuss a potential partnership"
- "Interested in your product feedback"
- "Seeking advice on entering the fintech space"
Examples of Effective Context
Sales Outreach
"We help companies like yours reduce customer churn by 30%. Saw you're growing fast and thought this might be relevant."
Recruiting
"Have a senior engineering role that matches your background. Remote, well-funded startup."
Networking
"Loved your take on product-led growth. Would enjoy swapping notes."
What NOT to Include
- Generic phrases ("I'd love to connect")
- Irrelevant personal information
- Overly long paragraphs (keep it concise)
- Hard sales pitches (save that for later)
Tip: The more specific your context, the better your message will be. "Saw your post" is okay, but "Saw your post about the challenges of remote hiring" is much better.
