Generating Your First Message
Generating a personalized LinkedIn message takes just a few clicks. Here's a step-by-step guide.
Step 1: Navigate to a LinkedIn Profile
Go to the LinkedIn profile of someone you want to reach out to. Make sure you're on their full profile page (URL should contain /in/).
Step 2: Open ReachDraft
Click the ReachDraft icon in your Chrome toolbar. The extension will automatically scan the profile and extract relevant information.
Step 3: Review the Profile Data
You'll see the extracted information at the top:
- Name
- Title/Headline
- Company
- Recent posts (if available)
You can edit any of this information if needed.
Step 4: Choose Your Options
Select your preferences:
- Format: Connection, Message, Email, Comment, or Reply
- Tone: Casual, Professional, or Friendly
- Context (optional): Add a note like "Saw your post about AI"
The format button changes what ReachDraft reads. Connection, Message, and Email use the profile data. Comment scans the LinkedIn post. Reply scans the conversation thread. If you pick the wrong format, ReachDraft won't use the right context. See Message Types & Tones for details.
Step 5: Generate
Click the "Generate Message" button. Your personalized message will appear in seconds.
Step 6: Review and Edit
Read through the message. Feel free to:
- Edit any part of the text
- Regenerate for a different approach
- Use "3 Variants" for multiple options
Step 7: Send
When you're happy with the message:
- Click "Copy" to copy to clipboard
- Or click "Insert to LinkedIn" to paste directly into LinkedIn's message field
Tip: Scroll through the person's profile to load their recent activity before opening ReachDraft. This gives the AI more context for personalization.
